Couples and Relationship Therapy
I am committed to supporting couples in navigating the complexities of their relationships, fostering open communication, and deepening the bonds that unite partners. It brings me immense joy to assist couples in their journey toward greater understanding, mutual respect, and appreciation for each other. Through couples therapy, we’ll create a safe and productive environment where both partners can feel heard and valued, allowing for open dialogue, conflict resolution, and a genuine sense of connection.

Relationships can be intricate, and at times, you may reach a crossroads, unsure of the next steps for you and your partner. Whether you're seeking guidance to reignite the connection, address recurring issues, or simply evaluate the future of your relationship, I am here to provide compassionate support and expertise. With a strong academic foundation in Psychology from the University of Kansas and a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Missouri Kansas City, specializing in Couples and Family, I bring over 15 years of experience in helping couples heal and grow. My goal is to equip you with tools for better communication, collaboration, and the ability to express love and respect in more meaningful ways.

EMDR and Trauma Therapy
Beyond couples therapy, my passion extends to trauma therapy, where I help individuals reclaim their lives after experiencing difficult and painful events. I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful and effective treatment approach for healing trauma. Traumatic experiences can leave emotional scars that shape your life, often creating cycles of fear, anxiety, or avoidance. EMDR offers a pathway to break free from these emotional burdens, allowing you to process past traumas in a safe and supportive space.

EMDR works by reprocessing distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity, and promoting a sense of resolution. Using bilateral stimulation techniques such as eye movements or tapping, we’ll work together to confront the emotional weight of these memories, helping you move forward with greater peace and resilience. This process allows you to regain control of your life, coexisting with past experiences in a way that no longer holds you back from living fully.

As a trauma therapist, my priority is to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings, build strength, and foster growth. Your bravery in confronting your trauma is truly inspiring, and I am honored to be part of your healing journey.

Family Therapy and Supporting Interracial Adopted Families
Family dynamics can be complex, especially when it comes to parenting and navigating the unique challenges of interracial adopted families. As a therapist, I offer support for families dealing with a wide range of issues, from managing the stresses of parenting to understanding the intricate emotional needs that arise within diverse family structures. Whether you’re dealing with behavior challenges, adjusting to new family dynamics, or fostering deeper emotional connections, family therapy provides a space for healing and growth.

My work with interracial adopted families is particularly focused on helping parents and children navigate the intersections of identity, belonging, and cultural understanding. Adoption brings its own set of emotional layers, and when race and cultural differences are added, it can introduce unique challenges that require careful navigation. Together, we’ll work on fostering open communication, addressing any identity-related challenges, and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

My approach to family therapy is relational, with a strong emphasis on building trust and empathy among family members. I aim to provide practical tools and insights that will help your family not only overcome challenges but also thrive in an environment where each member feels seen, valued, and supported.
If you’re seeking to improve family relationships, strengthen parenting skills, or address the specific dynamics of interracial adoption, I’m here to offer guidance and support. Let’s work together to foster a healthy, connected family environment where everyone can grow and flourish.
